Which of your jobs have been sitting for more than 15 days?

The spreadsheet knows what was assigned. It doesn't know what stopped moving. A job that sits quietly is the most expensive kind.

Ask a contractor which of their jobs have been sitting for more than 15 days. In most companies, the honest answer is: nobody knows without checking.

The spreadsheet knows what was assigned. The chat has the photos. The foreman roughly remembers the appointments. And the client asks "where are we?" every Monday.

It isn't a people problem. The work lives in four tools, and none of them notices when something stops.

Quiet jobs are the expensive ones

A job that fails loudly gets attention. Someone calls, someone complains, someone fixes it.

A job that goes quiet just sits. The appointment was never rebooked. The material didn't arrive and nobody chased it. The photos were taken but nobody checked them. Thirty days later it turns up in an argument with the client, or it never gets invoiced at all.

Make time a field

The change is simple to describe: every job knows when it last moved. Every status change, photo, comment or appointment updates it. Then you set the rule once:

  • Idle for 15 days: pin it to the top of the list and notify the owner.
  • Idle for 30 days: raise it to the manager.
  • Rejected by the client: back to the crew, with the reason on the job.

Nobody has to remember to check. The job comes forward by itself, to the person who can move it.

Why a pin, not a report

A report of idle jobs is useful on Friday. A pin is useful on Tuesday morning, when the person opening the list can do something about it.

The difference isn't what you see. It's who sees it, and when.

In Huskies, aging pins and priority rules are part of automations: you set the days, the condition and who gets notified. They run without anyone remembering them.
